Merry Christmas everyone

I have not been good at posting lately, but I have been so busy! I do hope that on the Christmas Eve everyone has a wonderful Christmas. And keep in mind, the reason for Christmas! Gifts are wonderful! But Christ is totally awesome! Who else would live their lives knowing they were doing it just to die for us?

We are dropping off the gifts we purchased for the boy we adopted this evening. He won't know we are there, I hope he has a wonderful Christmas.

Our sweet guinea pig Buster passed. He got a cold and we took him to the vet, but even after a shot and oral meds, it was not to be. We miss him horribly. I couldn't bear the empty cage and the quiet house free of wheeks and squeals. We adopted two sweet girls. Patch and Bunny are adjusting to their new home nicely. They of course are not Buster Brown as they all have their own personalities but it is great to have the movement and sounds in the house again.

Today I am baking the pies for tomorrow. Later I will start the dinner rolls. It truly amazes me how much some people spend on a holiday meal. When you do it from scratch it just isn't that expensive. I have one friend who is poor who is always needing food. But in talking to her, she won't make dinner rolls herself because she tried once and they were hard as rocks. But I think we all make mistakes and have to try again. It really is unaffordable when you buy the pies and the rolls and everything. No wonder so many people can't afford to eat! As part of our church food pantry outreach, I would love to start some cooking lessons, but I have no idea how to start and of course space is an issue. I can't fit 70 people in our church kitchen! I am toying with it in my mind though.

It is so hard being simple in this era

Being simple in this day and age is so hard. Not the being simple part so much, but the rude comments and such you get from others in the process. It shouldn't bother me I suppose, but it is wearing on my heart tonight. In the last few days I have been really attacked for things such as not demanding beloved do more around the house while he is off work. Well he does step up and help me a lot, but it is not my place to demand he do anything. I was told by one person that she is glad she is raising her daughter in an "equal" world. UM yeah so am I. Just because I believe that my husband is the head of my house, and I and the children give him the respect of that, we are not treated unequal. In fact, we are treated well by Beloved, in fact I would say far better than all those "equal" women. In fact, the Bible puts it to us this way:

Ephesians 5:22, 28-31. "Wives submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is head of the wife, even as Christ is head of the church; and he is the savior of the body. Therefore as the church is subject to Christ, so let wives be to their own husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wife as Christ also loved the church and gave himself for it . . . So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church . . . For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother and shal.1 be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh".

I wonder what wife does not want to be loved in this way? I guess they can have their equality. I for one want nothing to do with it.

Finally got some hamburger canned!

We have been out of hamburger. Meat has gotten to be a real treat around here. But with my coupons and sales the other day, I ended up being able to work things out to get 20 pounds of hamburger for free. Canned it up and ended up with 15 quarts. Two didn't seal so I am making sloppy joes out of them tonight.

Looks like Beloved is going to run out of unemployment Dec. 31st. Still no job for him anywhere in sight. Not sure what will happen then but praying a lot and trying not to worry so much. Hard not to do. Driving a school bus isn't working out because he got a DUI in 1989. Only thing on his record at all, seems silly it is still held against him. Could maybe get it expunged, but it would take months and cost at least $600 and we don't have money to dump at a 50/50 shot for something that could take months right now. We could sure use your prayers! He is still looking for truck driving jobs, plastics jobs, well any job really. Truck driving is tough because all the companies want two years experience. Beloved keeps saying God will provide because he always has. I hope it happens soon!
