Recipe share

I thought it would be fun to share recipes. So if you have a favorite (or three) feel free to link them or share them here! Perhaps we can all add something to our recipe box! My family loves this one. I make them in a triple batch to freeze. My little grocery store always has bananas marked down to .19 cents per pound to use. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Banana-Crumb-Muffins/Detail.aspx

Tomorrow is thrift store day

Tomorrow is half price day at the thrift store. I plan to take Erica. She needs a couple things to start school with, and I need some flannel sheets to back quilts with. I love going on half price day and getting such good stuff so super cheap. Stuff I just couldn't afford at a regular store right now, and wouldn't even if I could. Erica is pretty picky about her clothes, the kids here are so mean when it comes to fitting in with brands and such. But at the thrift store she is usually pretty happy and finds just what she wants. And if she doesn't tomorrow, then that is fine, because she has enough stuff to start school, just some fill in stuff needed. She starts school Aug. 15th, it hardly seems like she has been home this summer but she has had a great time this year. This week, she is going to VBS at another church in town, she loves that.

I have one quilt top done for Christmas, and enough blocks cut and pinned for another. Of course these are lap quilts. I do hope to do one or two bigger quilts for special gifts. Just have to see what I get done. Also I am working on crocheting some dishcloths for Christmas. I would love to hear what the rest of you are working on!

I am trying to get more veggies on the table, we need to eat more. But I could really use some new easy recipes. We get tired of eating them the same old way all the time. Tonight we tried sauteed zucchini with onions and tomatoes (all sauteed togethet) that went over pretty well. If you have any quick and easy yummy recipes, send them over!

Erica is done with her travels

My lovely daughter has had a very busy summer. With her visit to Kansas to visit grandparents and my brother and sister. Then she came back and had church camp. Then she came back last week from her second session of church camp. The second one was part of her Birthday gift. She will be 13 on Saturday! It just doesn't seem possible. She has a couple little gifts to open. And we have a couple of plans for a fun day I think. She goes back to school Aug. 15th, so we are trying to make the best of the rest of the summer with her.

Beloved is still looking for a job. The trucking thing has been kind of crazy. He has the license and all endorsements, but everyplace wants two years experience. How in the world do you get two years experience if no one will hire you? He is still applying in plastics as well. But this is just insane at this point. It is really weighing us both down and we are just weary. I know God won't give us anything we can't handle. But at this point, I really wish he didn't trust us so darn much!

I have got to get this under control

Ok time to admit it, I am diabetic. Also time to admit that I crave sweets. But my blood sugar is totally out of whack, and I have to get this under control. I need help. Big help. I need to find a way to get my sweet fix that will not wreck my diet. So if any of you have any wonderful ideas for me, shoot them my way!

Have a great 4th everyone!

I want to wish everyone a fun and safe holiday! Enjoy your fun but please do it safely!

We will be taking in two fireworks displays. One in each town that is ten miles from us. One on Sunday evening and one on Monday evening. We will take the grill with us and grill dinner and have water and pop and lemonade to drink. Tomorrow night we are having grilled chicken, corn and cabbage. Not sure what else. I really want some watermelon but they are not in season here yet, and are being shipped in and are just to expensive right now. So my craving will just have to wait another month or so until I can get some local ones. Watermelon really is my favorite summer fruit. To bad the season is so darn short.
